It's All In The Rhythm!

It's All In The Rhythm!

Wow! My kids love this product! This is new to Discovery Toys from Do Re Me and You. It comes with a CD, a DVD, and a bunch of little cards shaped like hands with different rhymes. There are 12 rhymes on the CD. They are put to music. The DVD has 6 of the rhymes that are on the CD. The DVD shows kids doing the hand claps that go with the rhymes. The kids do it fast once, then a bit slower and then with the music. Each one of the rhymes uses different hand clapping. So, your child learns the 6 hand clap rhymes on the DVD and then they have the confidence to make up their own hand claps to go with the other 6 songs on the CD.

My 1st grade daughter loves the DVD. So far we have learned Miss Mary Mack together and she wants to do it all the time. She and her 5 year old brother sing it in the car constantly. They love the repetition and the funny words (July can't walk. July can's talk. July can't eat with a knife and fork. And of course, the elephants jumping off the fence.)

This has been a fun thing to do together. It teaches my kids rhythm and it brings back such memories for me.

Zingo! Fun for the Whole Family!

ZINGO!

In this lively twist to classic Bingo, cover every square and you’ve got “ZINGO!”. As children race to match the tiles to the game board, they’ll build picture and word recognition skills, important basics for learning to read. Saying the name of the object out loud builds vocabulary skills too. Older children can flip the board over for a more competitive game variation. 8 game boards 5½” x 7” (14cm x 18cm) each, dispenser 6” x 5” x 3½ (15cm x 13cm x 9cm). Expanded Parent Guide included. From 4 years - Elementary School

Price $16.99

Just the other afternoon my boys (2 and 4) decided to get out the Zingo and play a bit. They got their dad to play with them. So the three got everything set up and ready to play. They all took turns sliding the tile holder to show the new tiles. This is a very important part of the game to my boys. My 2 year old was so fast my husband couldn't believe it. He won the game. They played a couple more times. It was a good father-son bonding time.

So, the reason I tell this story is to let you know that the age range of 4 and up is just a guideline. Many younger children love to play this. It is great for the whole family because it is challenging for everyone, gets everyone involved and can be very exciting. It is a game that even Mom and Dad enjoy playing. This is a great game for family game night. With Zingo, family members of all ages can playing together.

If you do not have Zingo and are interested in adding it to your family game library please visit my website www.playeveryday.net.
